May I Present Harrison,
Nelson has really thrown everybody a curveball this year! As if one amazing stud colt wasn't enough, Nelson decided to present us with yet another breathtaking colt. This time the colt is out of the gorgeous mare Gemma, foundation bred and imported from the UK. Gemma really put her stamp on this little guy, producing an almost carbon copy of herself in him. In fact, Harri is the ONLY bay and white colt ever produced by Nelson, both domestic and overseas. Harri decided to make his grand entrance a little early, arriving on August 6th around 12am. This little boy just hasn't slowed down since!
Instead of sticking close to his mom like most foals, Harrison spent very little time with her once we entered the picture. He trotted right up to us once we entered the pen, spending a long time getting some love. He headed back to mom for a quick snack, then spent a little while investigating the roundpen before coming back to us for another scratch. This boy has adored people from the minute he dropped, so much so that the Vet Techs would argue over who got to come and visit the farm in hopes of getting to spend a little time with Harri. Harrison has even learned that cars transport people around, so whenever he sees a car he whinnies or nickers in hopes of "talking" the person in the car into stopping for a scratch and kiss. He has quite a fanclub, and its members seem to keep growing in numbers every day!
As if his in-your-pocket disposition weren't enough, Harrison also has the looks to drop your jaw. Harri's coat is the exact same color as his Dam's, a deep bay and white with gorgeous black accents. He even has two incredible blue eyes, one white blue like his Dam's and the other sky blue like his Sire's. He sports a mostly white mane and a completely black tail to offset some flashy markings that really catch one's eye.
On top of all of this, Harri has conformation to die for. A nice short back, a beautiful rainbow neck, and a gorgeous chiseled head are just the beginning of this little guy. He bulking up and even catching up to his older half-brother, Jackson. Harri should top out close to 14.3-15hhs, though with his current growth rate he could end up even taller than that! I've also never seen this much mane or feather on a colt his age in my entire life. At almost 9 months old Harrison's feather can be grabbed in multiple handfuls and his mane is so long. This kind of quality just makes Harrison priceless.
Harrison is an absolute jewel. Sadly, shortly after his birth Gemma passed away due to foaling complications. It was horrible seeing such a beautiful mare leave us, but she will always be in our thoughts. Gemma was truly an amazing mare and was actually my favorite at the Ranch. Harrison will live on in her memory. Don't worry Gemma, we're taking care of your little treasure.
In 2009 Harrison will be starting his training for his future show career, so stay tuned for updates as his training progresses. Cosmopolitan Horse Farm will be waiting until 2010 to breed Harrison to none other than our very own Babe for the FIRST Cosmo Foal! Harri will be standing to a select number of mares starting in 2010, and discounts will be awarded to quality show mares. If you are interested in future breedings to Harrison, or if you'd like the chance to purchase a future in-utero from Harri and one of our mares, then contact us soon.
