May I Present, The Queen Mare Cosmopolitan Horse Farm welcomes the newest addition to our herd, Queen!! While we were not on the market for another Gypsy mare, this little girl could not be ignored. The first time we met her was at a large Gypsy Vanner farm in California, and Queen just won everybody over that she met. Queen's easy going disposition, drive to work, typiness, amount of mane and feather, and overall bulk made her such a knockout. However, at that time she was a broodmare for said farm and was not for sale. While she was there she produced a gorgeous colt, then was rebred to RR's Tomboy!!! She was then sold to another farm in CA. A sudden move resulted in her being sold at a price that we could not resist! So while she was not a planned purchase, we could not be happier with the chance that we were given to bring Queen to her forever home!
Queen was imported through Black Forest Shires and Gypsy Horses in July, 2003 along with her young colt Baker. She was believed to have been bred by the legendary Syd Harker. Her import page can be seen here. Along with Baker, Queen has produced multiple quality foals from multiple stallions over the past 9 years of her life. All with a solid build, with tons of silky feather and hair, with sweet dispositions just like their Dam. Queen is heterozygous for the Tobiano gene, meaning she can produce solids as well as horses with color. We plan to have her color tested to see what color she's going to be able to produce. In fact she's already produced multiple skewbalds, which means the color possibilities are endless. At 14.1hhs tall, Queen mostly produces foals with a more traditional size, and all about as wide as they are tall! Queen is the kind of mare that out produces herself through her foals, and her upcoming foal should be no exception. She's what we call a "proper cob".
Our lovely lady has restarted her training undersaddle and will possibly be worked in harness once again. She's really blossomed after being given a few years off and is ready to be a mom again. She babies her daughter Rei, even though she's no longer a young foal. Queen continues to win us over with her wonderfully sweet personality. She has decided that my husband, Sean, is her boyfriend. It's often that you'll see him in the photos with Queen, because she absolutely adores him. Even though she was not a horse we were expecting to add to our herd, I'm thankful every day that she is.
Queen has made it very apparent that she's ready to be a mom once again. So we have decided to pair Queen up with Harrison in 2012. We believe this cross will produce an incredibly traditional looking foal, not to mention a very hairy one! Both horses have incredibly sweet personalities, and we are very excited to see what they will end up producing together. Most likely this foal will be staying here at CHF, but if you HAVE to have the foal contact us to learn a bit more about this pairing.
Queen is a very special addition here at Cosmopolitan Horse Farm and will never be offered for sale. We are giving her a final home after many years of wandering the globe in search of one. Now she can rest easy, because she is home!
Below you'll see photos of Queen from the day before she gave birth to weaning time. Queen and Rei will stick together until Rei is 6 months old, at that point Rei will be weaned. You couldn't ask for a better mama mare than Queen. Both of the girls are doing well, enjoying the large green paddock, and getting big! You'll notice that in most of these photos Queen is just filthy. Well, she starts out clean, but one of the first thing she does is go and roll. She loves being filthy, and we love her for it. So you'll see Queen 'Au Natural below enjoying being a happy, chunky horse. Of course, since she knows she's in her forever home now she doesn't have to worry about keeping appearances.
**The first set of three photos below were taken by Louise Laframboise of Greenstone Farm when Queen was first imported into the U.S. The larger group of shots are updated photos of Queen. In that group the first two shots of Queen are provided thanks to Ella Cummings, and the rest were provided by Holly Jonsson. Thank you ladies for allowing me to use these photos of Queen.**
**Below are a few photos of some of Queen's offspring. If you own a Queen baby, and would like to have their photo added below, please contact us. This girl has produced lots of quality foals over the years, and I appreciate their owners allowing me to use these photographs.**

I want to extend a HUGEthank you to everybody who had a hand in helping Queen find her way to us. Lizzie, Steph, Wendy, Nicole, Karen, Tracy, Jeff, Derik, and of course Holly. Thank you for all of your help and support, both big and small. Without you guys she would not be in my life, and despite the drama, that would be a tragedy because she is truly a treasure to own. Thank you again for everything...
